Run to the River – A 10K Run / 5K Walk in Richmond, VA
A 10K Hill Run / 5K Walk

The Rocketts Landing Run to the River is a challenging 10K run presented by Rocketts Landing. Runners will tackle three hills as they dash over cobblestone streets, through historic neighborhoods, and along the banks of the James River. Others will explore Richmond’s scenic East End on the 5K family walk or dash in the 1K Fun Run. Wear your complementary t-shirt to the finish line party, where you’ll enjoy live music, refreshments, and an alternative health fair. All proceeds benefit the Neighborhood Resource Center. The race is limited to 500 runners, so register early.
Lengths and descriptions (10k, 5K)
10K Hill Run
The 10K Hill Run course leads runners over three steep hills (Powhatan, Potomac and Libby Hills) and along Richmond’s historic and scenic riverfront. It’s a great way to prepare for the Richmond Marathon! Registration to the 10K Hill Run is limited to 500 runners, so click here to register now!
Course length measured to USATF standards by a designated member of the Richmond Road Runners Club who specializes in measuring routes.
5K Walk
The 5K Walk through Greater Fulton will take place simultaneously. Discover many hidden architectural gems as we stroll through Montrose Heights, Fulton and along the river through Rocketts Landing. Register online!
Date, Location, and Starting Times
The Rocketts Landing Run to the River event will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 rain or shine. All events start and end at the Neighborhood Resource Center, 1519 Williamsburg Rd, Richmond VA, 23231. Click here to view directions from your location.

Registration Fees
The registration fee for the 10K Hill run is $30 through 9/15/10, then $35 through 10/15/10. The fee for the 5K Walk is $25. Please note that registration closes on October 15, 2010 at 8:00pm. There is NO race day registration. Sign up early and join us!
Route Map and Elevation Chart
The route for the 10K run and 5K walk will visit the neighborhoods of Montrose Heights, up to Church Hill, back along the James River through Rocketts Landing, and back to the NRC. Don’t let the elevation profile scare you! What goes up, must come down. It’s a challenging route and a great tour of the East End.

Parking will be available on a first come, first serve basis in the lots listed below. Please place the parking pass on the dashboard of your car. You’ll find the parking pass in your race packet, or you can download it here.

Packet Pickup
Packets will be available for pickup at the Neighborhood Resource Center (NRC), on Thursday, October 14, from 4-7pm and Friday, October 15, all day from 9am – 7pm. Race day packet pickup will only be available for out of town participants (email info@runtotheriver.org to confirm race day pickup). All others must pick up their race number and packet on either Thursday or Friday.
Race Goodies
Every runner, walker, and dasher will receive a free t-shirt and race food and drinks. Massage therapists will be on hand at our Alternative Health Fair to soothe aching muscles! Our Finish Line Party will feature live music in the NRC Cafe.
Awards
Awards will be presented to the top male and female 10K finisher in the following age categories:

We’ll also have awards for the top Fundrunners.
All event proceeds will benefit the Neighborhood Resource Center (NRC), a grassroots educational and cultural center fostering personal growth and community change in the Greater Fulton area. Help support the NRC by becoming a fundrunner or making a tax-deductible donation.
Other Information About the Race
Jogging strollers are welcome on the 5K route. Because the 10K hill run includes stairs, we do not recommend jogging strollers for that portion of the event.
Alternative Health Fair
After the race, join us for the NRC Alternative Health Fair! Get a free massage or consult with a health practitioner. If you’re a massage therapist or other alternative health practitioner and would like to participate in the health fair, please contact us.
