Run for a Cause
Run to the River is a fundraising event to support the Neighborhood Resource Center, a grassroots educational and cultural center dedicated to fostering personal growth and community change in the Greater Fulton area.
There are two ways to participate in the race: as a standard participant or as a “fundrunner” (a Samaritan with sneakers!) All proceeds go to benefit the Neighborhood Resource Center (NRC), a non-profit, tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization. Fundraising is easier than you might think! Remember, if just 10 people sponsor you for $10 each, you’ve raised $100.
Only fundrunners are eligible for special prizes. So far, these include:
- a two-night stay at The Homestead, a luxury resort located in Hot Springs, Virginia
- a one-year membership plus one free personal training session at Richmond Balance, a state-of-the-art fitness facility located in historic Shockoe Bottom

The Neighborhood Resource Center is a grassroots, nonprofit community center working to change people’s lives in the Greater Fulton neighborhood of Richmond’s East End. The center offers quality programs and resources to families with limited means, including:
- after-school programs in the creative arts
- individual tutoring
- a Montessori preschool
- GED classes and career resources
- wellness classes (healthy cooking, yoga, Tai Chi, and more) and organic garden
- Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, field trips and more
This year, to support the Neighborhood Resource Center, I’m participating in the Rocketts Landing Run to the River to raise funds and awareness. The funds I raise will go directly toward supporting the Center.
I know I can make a difference with your support! Will you consider making a donation? It’s easy to give online by following the link below.

Sample 2
On October 17th, I will be running up and down the hills of Richmond’s east end to help raise money for a grassroots neighborhood center. The Neighborhood Resource Center was started from scratch by people who live in Fulton Hill. Community folks got together and raised enough money to buy an abandoned post office in their neighborhood. They fixed it up with tons of volunteer help and have been running educational programs for people of all ages since 2005. The center has a sliding-scale Montessori Preschool, an after school tutoring and arts program, adult education classes, a career support center, a recording studio and a kitchen/cafe!!! The center is provides quality resources and opportunities to low-income families five days a week, all year around. They need support and so do I!!! Make a donation to the Neighborhood Resource Center and help me help others by clicking this link:

Thanks!!
Sample 3
I go to the Neighborhood Resource Center after school. Our center is having a big race to help raise money so the kids who come here can keep on cooking, doing homework, recording songs in the studio, going on girl scout trips, planting vegetables in the garden and doing tae kwon do. The little kids that go here, they have a preschool. It’s called Montessori after an old lady in Italy–she must have been smart, because the kids are learning to read before they even get to kindergarten. Anyway, if you can, please support the person who sends you this email, because that person is running for us. Donate now:
